Vortex 8×42 Viper HD Binoculars (2018 Edition)

Description

Spanning a broad 7.8-degree actual angle, the Vortex 8×42 Viper HD Binoculars (2018 Edition) yields an expansive 409-foot field of view at 1000 yards. The forgiving 5.25mm exit pupil and 18mm eye relief ensure immediate visual immersion. Hand tremors remain minimal, though resolving distant antler tines lacks the reach of ten-power optics.

High-density extra-low dispersion (HD) glass elements feed phase-corrected BaK-4 roof prisms coated in dielectric mirror layers and XR fully multi-coated surfaces. The rubber-armored chassis measures 5.6 by 4.9 inches and weighs 24.5 oz (694.6 g). O-ring sealed and argon purged against moisture, it features a central focus wheel tracking to 6.5 feet (1.98 m), a locking right-eye diopter dial, multi-position twist-up eyecups, and front tripod adapter threading.

Key Features of Vortex 8×42 Viper HD Binoculars (2018 Edition)

A fast-handling hunting and birding binocular engineered for thick timber scouting where wide situational awareness is essential. The generous 5.25mm exit pupil keeps viewing relaxed and bright in deep forest shade, while the locking right-eye diopter prevents setting drift.

• 8x magnification through 42mm objective lenses with a 5.25mm exit pupil
• Phase-corrected BaK-4 roof prisms with high-reflectivity dielectric mirror layers
• High-density extra-low dispersion (HD) optical glass elements
• Wide 409 ft field of view at 1000 yd (7.8-degree actual angle)
• 18mm eye relief paired with multi-stop twist-up rubber eyecups
• Short 6.5-foot close focus distance suited for near-range butterfly viewing
• Argon gas purged and O-ring sealed waterproof chassis (24.5 oz)
• Locking right-eye diopter adjustment ring and front tripod adapter socket

HD Glass Performance & Dielectric Coatings

HD objective lenses eliminate secondary spectrum chromatic fringing, keeping plumage bars and antler contours sharp against bright skies. Dielectric prism coatings reflect over 99 percent of internal light, maintaining rich color saturation and high edge-to-edge resolution across roughly 88 percent of the frame before slight edge softening begins.

Argon-Purged Body & Locking Hardware

The rubber-armored chassis absorbs mechanical shock and deadens handling noise against tree stands. The central focus dial operates with smooth mechanical drag, while the locking right-eye diopter ring snaps down securely to prevent accidental setting drift when sliding the binocular into a chest harness.

• Smooth central focus wheel delivers backlash-free adjustment from 6.5 feet to infinity
• Locking right-eye diopter ring preserves custom focal calibration against pack contact
• ArmorTek scratch-resistant exterior coatings protect outer lenses from oil, dirt, and abrasion
