Vortex 12×50 Viper HD Binoculars (2018 Edition)

Description

Combining twelve-power reach with light-gathering 50mm objective cells, the Vortex 12×50 Viper HD Binoculars (2018 Edition) produces a 288-foot field of view at 1000 yards (5.5-degree actual). The 4.1mm exit pupil and 16mm eye relief provide crisp distant identification. High magnification exaggerates natural hand tremors, making a rested hold or tripod mount recommended.

High-density extra-low dispersion (HD) optical glass pairs with phase-corrected BaK-4 roof prisms coated in dielectric mirror layers and XR fully multi-coated surfaces. Encased in durable green rubber armor, the chassis measures 6.5 by 5.2 inches at 28.8 oz (816.5 g). O-ring sealed and argon purged against moisture, it features a central focus wheel tracking to 9.5 feet (2.9 m), a locking right-eye diopter, twist-up eyecups, and front tripod adapter threading.

Key Features of Vortex 12×50 Viper HD Binoculars (2018 Edition)

A high-power hunting binocular designed for open-country western hunters and long-range spotters who demand twelve-power resolving reach with bright twilight performance. The 50mm front objectives gather critical light, while the locking right-eye diopter prevents accidental focal drift.

• High-power 12x magnification combined with 50mm light-gathering objective apertures
• Phase-corrected BaK-4 roof prisms with high-reflectivity dielectric mirror layers
• High-density extra-low dispersion (HD) optical glass elements
• 288 ft field of view at 1000 yd (5.5-degree actual angle)
• 16mm eye relief with multi-stop twist-up rubber eyecups
• 9.5-foot close focus distance suited for long-range observation platforms
• Argon gas purged and O-ring sealed waterproof housing (28.8 oz)
• Locking right-eye diopter adjustment ring and front tripod adapter socket

HD Glass Performance & Dielectric Prism Layers

HD objective lenses eliminate secondary spectrum chromatic fringing, keeping antler tines and tree limbs sharp against bright skies. Dielectric prism coatings reflect over 99 percent of internal light, maintaining rich color saturation and high edge-to-edge resolution across roughly 85 percent of the frame before slight edge softening begins.

Argon-Purged Body & Locking Hardware

The rubber-armored chassis absorbs mechanical shock and deadens handling noise against tree stands. The central focus dial operates with smooth mechanical drag, while the locking right-eye diopter ring snaps down securely to prevent accidental setting drift when sliding the binocular into a chest harness.

• Smooth central focus wheel delivers backlash-free adjustment from 9.5 feet to infinity
• Locking right-eye diopter ring preserves custom focal calibration against pack contact
• ArmorTek scratch-resistant exterior coatings protect outer lenses from oil, dirt, and abrasion
