ZEISS 8×42 Terra ED Binoculars (Black)

Description

Finished in functional black rubber armoring, the ZEISS 8×42 Terra ED Binoculars (Black) yields an expansive 376.51-foot field of view at 1000 yards (7.0-degree actual). The forgiving 5.25mm exit pupil and 18.3mm eye relief ensure immediate sight alignment with spectacles. While center contrast is punchy, very slight softening appears along the outer frame margin.

Schott ED objective glass feeds phase-corrected Schmidt-Pechan BaK-4 roof prisms coated in proprietary hydrophobic multi-layers. The fiberglass-reinforced polycarbonate chassis is wrapped in black rubber armor, measuring 5.59 by 4.72 inches and weighing 25.57 oz (725 g). Nitrogen filled and water-resistant to 100 mbar, it incorporates a wide center focus wheel tracking to 5.25 feet (1.6 m), a -3 to +3 diopter adjuster, and four-stop twist-up eyecups.

Key Features of ZEISS 8×42 Terra ED Binoculars (Black)

A dependable eight-power field binocular designed for woodland birders, hunters, and travelers who need proven German optical pedigree in an all-weather chassis. The generous 5.25mm exit pupil keeps the sight picture relaxed and bright during overcast mornings and twilight feeding hours.

• 8x magnification through 42mm objective lenses with a 5.25mm exit pupil
• Phase-corrected Schmidt-Pechan BaK-4 roof prisms for enhanced optical contrast
• Schott extra-low dispersion (ED) optical glass elements suppressing color fringing
• 376.51 ft field of view at 1000 yd (7.0-degree actual angle)
• 18.3mm eye relief paired with four-stop twist-up rubber eyecups
• Short 5.25-foot close focus distance suited for butterfly and floral observation
• Nitrogen gas purged fiberglass-reinforced chassis sheathed in black rubber armor
• Durable 25.57 oz body with front 1/4-20 tripod adapter compatibility

Schott ED Elements & Schmidt-Pechan Optics

Schott ED objective glass elements minimize secondary spectrum chromatic fringing, keeping contrast sharp along backlit timber edges. ZEISS anti-reflective multicoatings maximize photon transmission across the optical train, maintaining neutral color reproduction across roughly 85 percent of the frame before slight edge softening begins.

Polycarbonate Chassis & Central Focus Action

The fiberglass-reinforced body resists structural warping across temperature swings while absorbing trail impacts. The oversized central focus wheel glides with grease-damped friction, allowing rapid focal transitions from near brush out to distant ridges without mechanical slop.

• Large center focus wheel delivers smooth, backlash-free adjustment in wet conditions
• O-ring sealed nitrogen chambers eliminate internal lens fogging during sudden mountain squalls
• Multi-position twist-up eyecups lock securely in place to maintain correct eye relief
