ZEISS 8×40 SFL Binoculars

Description

Balancing full-size light throughput against an agile 22.6-ounce frame, the ZEISS 8×40 SFL Binoculars provides a sweeping 420-foot field of view at 1000 yards (60-degree apparent). The generous 5mm exit pupil and 18mm eye relief ensure immediate visual immersion. In deep dusk, the 40mm objectives gather slightly less total light than larger 50mm binoculars.

UHD optical elements feed phase-corrected Schmidt-Pechan BaK-4 roof prisms treated with ZEISS T* multicoatings and LotuTec water-repellent barriers. Built with a magnesium alloy chassis, it measures 5.7 inches long and weighs 22.6 oz (641 g). Nitrogen filled and waterproof to 400 mbar, it incorporates an oversized SmartFocus wheel tracking to 5 feet (1.5 m), an integrated -4 to +4 diopter adjuster, and multi-position twist-up eyecups.

Key Features of ZEISS 8×40 SFL Binoculars

A reference-grade lightweight binocular crafted for active birders and alpine hikers who refuse to compromise optical quality for low carry weight. The SmartFocus concept positions the focus wheel naturally under your index finger for rapid focal sweeps.

• 8x magnification paired with 40mm objective lenses producing a 5mm exit pupil
• Ultra-High-Definition (UHD) optical concept delivering true color fidelity
• Phase-corrected Schmidt-Pechan roof prisms treated with ZEISS T* multi-coatings
• Sweeping 420 ft field of view at 1000 yd (60-degree apparent angle)
• 18mm eye relief with multi-stop twist-up rubber eyecups
• Class-leading 5-foot (1.5 m) minimum close focus distance for macro nature viewing
• Submersible waterproof and nitrogen-purged magnesium alloy frame (22.6 oz)
• SmartFocus wheel operating across 1.4 rotations from close focus to infinity

UHD Concept Optics & Spectral Fidelity

The UHD optical design combines thinner glass elements with high-index coatings to suppress chromatic aberration, rendering natural plumage tones with zero magenta halos. Phase-corrected roof prisms and T* multi-coatings deliver punchy contrast across 90 percent of the frame before slight edge softening begins.

SmartFocus Ergonomics & Lightweight Chassis

The magnesium alloy chassis redistributes mass toward your palms, virtually eliminating hand fatigue during long glassing sessions. The oversized SmartFocus wheel requires only 1.4 turns from five feet out to infinity, allowing you to track moving wildlife with minimal finger rotation while the body absorbs trail knocks.

• SmartFocus wheel provides rapid, backlash-free focal adjustments with cold or gloved fingers
• LotuTec hydrophobic lens coatings cause rain beads and trail grit to wipe away cleanly
• O-ring sealed nitrogen chambers prevent internal condensation across extreme temperature swings
