Determine mineral birefringence and petrographic rock structures under polarized light using the Euromex iScope IS.1053-PLPOLi Polarizing Microscope transmitted-light research platform. Powered by an infinity-corrected IOS optical system, it delivers 40x, 100x, 400x, and 1000x magnification. The quadruple revolving nosepiece holds four stress-free Plan PLPOLi objectives: 4x/0.10, 10x/0.25, spring-loaded 40x/0.65, and spring-loaded 100x/1.25 oil immersion, each fitted with individual centering screws to ensure rotational concentricity.
Transmitted light is supplied by an energy-efficient 3W NeoLED base lamp focused through a height-adjustable Abbe 1.25 NA condenser with an integrated rotatable polarizer lens frame. The 30-degree inclined trinocular head features an integrated light path selector slider and a vertical 23.2 mm camera port for digital image capture. The 160 mm circular stage rotates 360 degrees continuously, graduated to 1 degree with a 0.1-degree vernier scale. An intermediate housing includes a focusable Bertrand lens and slots for 1-lambda, 1/4-lambda, and quartz wedge compensators across an 8.6 kg cast frame.
