Description

Audit opaque foundry castings and verify alloy grain boundaries using the Optika IM-3MET-SW Inverted Microscope materials science workstation. Designed with an inverted optical architecture, heavy polished metallurgical pucks sit flat over the objective nose without clay leveling presses or custom specimen mounts. It delivers 50x, 100x, 200x, and 500x magnification through four Long Working Distance (LWD) IOS U-PLAN MET infinity objectives: 5x, 10x, 20x, and 50x, providing crisp reflected brightfield imaging and simple cross-polarization analysis across opaque metal surfaces.

Epi-illumination is powered by a high-intensity 5W white LED module fitted with integrated field and aperture diaphragms for glare-free Köhler contrast. The 45-degree inclined trinocular head carries extra-widefield high-eyepoint WF 10x/22 mm eyepieces and an overhead vertical photo port with a selectable 100:0 visual / 0:100 camera beam splitter. The oversized 250 x 160 mm mechanical stage includes modular metal insert rings and an attached mechanical guide with 120 x 78 mm XY travel, supported by an 11.2 kg cast-metal frame with 2-micron coaxial focus graduations.

Key Features of Optika IM-3MET-SW Inverted Microscope

A professional inverted metallurgical trinocular microscope engineered for industrial quality control, semiconductor wafer verification, and foundry stress audits. Features four IOS LWD U-PLAN MET infinity objectives, 5W LED epi-reflected Köhler lighting, and a 120 x 78 mm mechanical stage.

  • Inverted optical path accommodates large, heavy metallurgical samples without special mounts
  • IOS LWD U-PLAN MET infinity objectives: 5x, 10x, 20x, and 50x for opaque surfaces
  • High-intensity 5W white LED epi-illumination with field and aperture diaphragms
  • Dedicated vertical photo port tower with selectable 100:0 / 0:100 optical beam splitter
  • Extra-widefield high-eyepoint WF 10x/22 mm eyepieces with adjustable interpupillary spacing
  • Oversized 250 x 160 mm fixed stage base with mechanical XY guide spanning 120 x 78 mm
  • Coaxial coarse and fine focus knobs with calibrated 2-micrometer (0.002 mm) graduations
  • Heavy 11.2 kg structural metal housing isolates delicate polished surfaces from vibration

Inverted Metallurgical Geometry & LWD Plan Optics

Upright metallurgical scopes struggle with tall or uneven polished mounts that tilt under the objective. The inverted design of the IM-3MET-SW eliminates that hurdle: simply place the polished face downward over the stage aperture, and your sample is automatically parallel to the objective lens plane. The long-working-distance U-PLAN MET objectives maintain safe clearance over sample edges, preventing accidental lens scratches during aggressive stage scanning.

5W LED Köhler Epi-Illumination & Camera Output

The 5W LED epi-illuminator provides clean, daylight-balanced light that renders metal phases, inclusion strings, and etching boundaries with high optical contrast. Built-in aperture and field diaphragms allow operators to eliminate internal glare and dial in optimal resolution on shiny alloys. The dedicated vertical camera port routes uncompressed optical data to external imaging sensors, letting metallurgy labs record high-resolution grain sizing logs for customer certification.

  • Inverted stage layout speeds up workflow by removing sample leveling routines
  • Köhler illumination diaphragms eliminate stray reflections on polished metal faces
  • Selectable beam splitter allows 100% light transfer to digital cameras for low-noise capture

Optika Ten-Year Manufacturer Limited Warranty

Optika backs the IM-3MET-SW with an industry-leading 10-year warranty on mechanical frame castings and optical glass, covering internal LED electronics for two years. The complete factory package contains the inverted metallurgical chassis tower, four IOS LWD U-PLAN MET objectives, paired WF 10x/22 mm eyepieces, metal stage insert rings, mechanical XY guide assembly, calibration slides, power cord, and manual.
