Steiner 8×30 M830r Military Binoculars (Mil Reticle)

Description

Serving tactical infantry squads and forward observers with rapid milliradian distance measurement, the Steiner 8×30 M830r Military Binoculars (Mil Reticle) provide military-grade optical performance and ballistic observation capability in a compact format. Combining 8x magnification with 30mm objective apertures, this tactical Porro prism instrument yields a 392-foot linear field of view at 1000 yards (130.1m at 1000m), an actual angle of view of 7.5 degrees, a 3.75mm exit pupil, and 15mm of eye relief for identifying distant targets and calculating accurate holdovers across open desert and mountainous terrain.

The optical system features high-index BaK-4 Porro prisms mounted in a shock-absorbing floating silicone suspension, paired with Steiner broadband fully multi-coated military optics and an integrated Mil-scale ranging reticle calibrated in 0.2 to 1.0 mrad increments for rapid range and size estimation. Measuring 17 by 10.7 by 5.6cm (6.7 x 4.2 x 2.2 Inches) and weighing 530.1g (18.7 oz), the housing is fabricated from impact-resistant Makrolon polycarbonate wrapped in oil-and-chemical-resistant NBR Long Life synthetic rubber armoring. The chassis is pressurized with dry nitrogen gas via 14-psi N2 injection valves and O-ring sealed for submersible waterproof reliability down to 5m (16 feet). Adjustments center on the Steiner Sports-Auto Focus individual eyepiece focusing system with a 66-foot (20.1m) close focus limit, an extensive -5 to +5 diopter scale on each ocular, cylindrical fold-down rubber eyecups, and an interpupillary distance range from 56mm to 74mm.

Key Features of Steiner 8×30 M830r Military Binoculars (Mil Reticle)

Built to stringent military specifications, this 8×30 Porro prism binocular combines compact handling with a precision milliradian measurement reticle. The Sports-Auto Focus system delivers continuous optical sharpness from 20 meters to infinity once calibrated to the operator eyes. Its nitrogen-pressurized Makrolon housing, floating prism suspension, and NBR rubber armoring ensure mechanical survivability across severe combat, maritime, and arctic environments.

Floating BaK-4 Porro Prisms & Built-In Mil-Scale Crosshair Reticle

The 30mm objective lenses gather ample photon volume, working with high-index BaK-4 Porro prisms to generate a balanced 3.75mm exit pupil that pierces shadows, smoke, and low-contrast atmospheric haze. The integrated Mil reticle features fine hash marks in 0.2 mrad subdivisions at the center and 1.0 mrad increments along the stadia lines, allowing forward observers to calculate target distance and communicate accurate impact corrections to sniper teams. Multi-layer broadband coatings maximize light transmission, preserving sharp edge definition and authentic color rendition on distant silhouettes.

Compact Makrolon Frame & Sports-Auto Focus Mechanics

The Makrolon chassis withstands severe mechanical shock and structural impacts up to 11 Gs, utilizing a flexible silicone mount that shields internal prism alignments from rough transport and vehicle vibration. NBR Long Life rubber armoring resists degradation from petroleum products, gun lubricants, and saltwater while providing a firm grip in freezing conditions. The Sports-Auto Focus individual eyepiece system allows operators to calibrate each ocular once from -5 to +5 diopters, keeping subjects from 20 meters to optical infinity in continuous sharp focus without manual refocusing on moving targets.

• Sports-Auto Focus individual eyepiece dials providing set-and-forget focal sharpness to infinity
• Nitrogen-pressurized Makrolon frame with shock-dampening floating prism mounts rated waterproof to 5m
• Built-in Mil-scale ranging reticle enabling precise target height and distance calculations
