Steiner 8×56 T856r Tactical Binoculars (SUMR Reticle)

Description

Delivering high photon collection and precise milliradian target ranging in extreme low light, the Steiner 8×56 T856r Tactical Binoculars (SUMR Reticle) provide tactical optical performance for sniper observers, perimeter security teams, and law enforcement scouts. Pairing 8x magnification with massive 56mm objective apertures, this Porro prism instrument yields an expansive 441-foot linear field of view at 1000 yards (146.4m at 1000m), an actual angle of view of 8.4 degrees, a large 7mm exit pupil, and an extraordinary 24.4mm eye relief for rapid target location and comfortable glassing while wearing protective eyewear or tactical gas masks.

The optical system features high-refraction BaK-4 Porro prisms mounted in a shock-dampening floating silicone suspension, paired with Steiner broadband fully multi-coated optical elements and an integrated Steiner Universal Mil Reticle (SUMR) calibrated in 0.2 to 1.0 mrad increments for precise target range estimation. Measuring 21.08 by 21.08cm (8.3 x 8.3 inches) and weighing 1103g (38.9 oz), the chassis is built from impact-resistant Makrolon polycarbonate wrapped in oil-and-chemical-resistant NBR Long Life rubber armoring. The housing is pressurized with dry nitrogen gas via two-way valves and O-ring sealed for submersible waterproof reliability down to 5m (16 feet). Adjustments center on the Steiner Sports-Auto Focus individual eyepiece focusing system with a 66-foot (20.1m) close focus distance, cylindrical fold-down rubber eyecups, and an integrated central tripod mount interface.

Key Features of Steiner 8×56 T856r Tactical Binoculars (SUMR Reticle)

Engineered to meet stringent military specifications, this 8×56 Porro prism binocular combines extreme low-light visibility with a precision milliradian measurement reticle. The Sports-Auto Focus system delivers constant focus from 20 meters out to infinity once calibrated to the operator eyes. Its nitrogen-pressurized Makrolon housing, floating prism suspension, and NBR rubber armoring ensure survivability in high-impact tactical environments.

• 8x magnification power paired with massive 56mm objective lenses producing a large 7mm exit pupil
• Porro prism optical architecture incorporating BaK-4 glass in a shock-absorbing floating silicone mount
• Steiner fully multi-coated tactical optics delivering high contrast and light transmission in darkness
• Expansive 441-foot field of view at 1000 yards (146.4m at 1000m) with 8.4-degree actual angle of view
• Integrated Steiner Universal Mil Reticle (SUMR) for fast target range and size estimation in milliradians
• Sports-Auto Focus individual eyepiece system maintaining sharp focus from 66 feet (20.1m) to infinity

• Nitrogen-pressurized Makrolon polycarbonate chassis submersible and certified waterproof to 5m (16 feet)

Large 56mm Light Collectors & Integrated SUMR Ranging Reticle

The 56mm objective lenses gather extensive photon volume, working with high-index BaK-4 Porro prisms to generate a large 7mm exit pupil that fully illuminates dark-adapted human eyes during nighttime tactical operations. The integrated SUMR reticle features fine hash marks in 0.2 mrad subdivisions at the center and 1.0 mrad increments on the outer axes, allowing operators to calculate accurate target distance and call bullet impact corrections in conjunction with sniper systems. Fully multi-coated optical elements maximize contrast, cutting through muzzle smoke, dust, and darkness.

Makrolon Polycarbonate Frame & Sports-Auto Focus Mechanics

The Makrolon chassis withstands severe mechanical shock and structural impacts up to 11 Gs, utilizing a flexible silicone mount that shields internal prism alignments from rough handling and vehicle vibration. NBR Long Life rubber armoring resists degradation from petroleum products, gun oils, and saltwater while providing a firm grip in freezing conditions. The Sports-Auto Focus individual eyepiece system allows operators to calibrate each ocular once, keeping targets from 20 meters to optical infinity in continuous sharp focus without requiring manual refocusing during rapid situational shifts.

• Sports-Auto Focus individual eyepiece dials providing set-and-forget focal sharpness to infinity
• Nitrogen-pressurized Makrolon chassis with floating prism mounts resisting extreme shocks and salt water
• Extraordinary 24.4mm eye relief allowing complete visual field visibility while wearing tactical goggles
