Bresser MC 152/1900 Messier Hexafoc Maksutov OTA

Description

Adding a fine-focus assist to Maksutov design, the Bresser MC 152/1900 Messier Hexafoc Maksutov OTA pairs a long f/12.5 focal path with a dual focusing system: an external 2.5-inch Hexafoc rack-and-pinion focuser working alongside the internal primary mirror movement most Maksutovs rely on alone. This version ships as a bare optical tube, no mount included.

At 6.5kg, this tube needs a genuinely sturdy mount — the internal focusing found on smaller Maksutovs in this catalog gets a mechanical assist here that most compact Maksutov designs skip, worth factoring in against a lighter mount rated for a smaller aperture. The 2-inch zenith mirror also accepts wider-field eyepieces than the 1.25-inch format found on this catalog’s smaller Maksutov tubes.

Key Features of Bresser MC 152/1900 Messier Hexafoc Maksutov OTA

A 152mm Maksutov-Cassegrain with a dual focusing system resolves down to 0.76 arcseconds, reaching a limiting magnitude of 12.7 for this catalog’s sharpest Maksutov performance.

• External 2.5-inch Hexafoc focuser adds fine control the internal-only Maksutovs in this catalog lack
• Sealed catadioptric tube keeps dust out with zero collimation needed
• 2-inch zenith mirror accepts wider-field eyepieces for richer planetary framing
• Included 26mm Super Plossl eyepiece delivers 73x magnification right out of the box
• Carrying handle on the tube rings makes solo transport manageable at this aperture
• Magnification range from 22x to 304x, the highest ceiling in this catalog’s Maksutov line
• Dual focusing system suits fine adjustments a single internal mechanism can’t match

What Sets the MC-152/1900 OTA Apart

Against the smaller 100mm and 127mm Maksutovs in this catalog, this 152mm tube adds an external Hexafoc focuser most compact Maksutov designs skip — real fine-focus control at the highest magnifications this catalog’s Maksutov line reaches.

Applications & Use Cases

Built as a standalone large optical tube, this telescope suits sharp planetary tracking, high-contrast lunar inspection, and high-power visual setups for a dedicated planetary observer.

• Observers who already own a mount rated for this tube’s weight
• Planetary enthusiasts wanting this catalog’s sharpest Maksutov resolving power
• Anyone who values external fine-focus control at high magnification

Bresser Warranty & Support
