Opticron 8×42 DBA VHD+ Binoculars

Description

Eliminating eye-relief blackout for eyeglass wearers while preserving a massive 366-foot field of view, the Opticron 8×42 DBA VHD+ Binoculars provide high-contrast optical performance and wide-angle situational awareness for demanding birders and naturalists. Pairing an optimal 8x magnification with 42mm objective apertures, this Japanese-manufactured optic delivers a 366-foot linear field of view at 1000 yards (121.51m at 1000m), an actual angle of view of 7.0 degrees, an accommodating 5.25mm exit pupil, and an extraordinary 22mm eye relief for comfortable, strain-free viewing during all-day field surveys.

The optical system features the advanced VHD+ optical layout incorporating premium extra-low dispersion (ED) glass elements and flat-field vision technology, paired with phase-corrected roof prisms treated with Oasis 64-layer dielectric coatings and S-H type multi-coating across all air-to-glass surfaces. Built inside a compact dual-hinge single-axis magnesium alloy chassis encased in textured protective rubber armoring, the housing measures 14.5 by 12.6cm (5.7 x 5 Inches) and weighs 696g (24.55 oz). The optical chambers are dry nitrogen gas filled and O-ring sealed for waterproof integrity down to a depth of 5m (16 feet). Mechanical adjustments center on an oversized central focus wheel with a 500-degree rotation travel, an 8.2-foot (2.5m) close focus distance, an integrated central diopter adjuster, four-stage twist-up click-stop eyecups, and an interpupillary distance range from 56mm to 74mm.

Key Features of Opticron 8×42 DBA VHD+ Binoculars

Built for competitive birdwatchers and wildlife researchers, this 8×42 roof prism binocular combines VHD+ extra-low dispersion glass with flat-field vision lenses. Its generous 22mm eye relief delivers full visual field access for spectacle wearers without peripheral vignetting. The nitrogen-sealed magnesium chassis, 500-degree wide focus wheel, and four-stage eyecups provide dependable mechanical control and weather protection in severe outdoor environments.

Premium ED Objective Glass & Oasis High-Reflectivity Coatings

The VHD+ optical system integrates high-grade extra-low dispersion ED glass with flat-field lens technology to eliminate optical aberrations and field curvature, providing sharp resolution from the central axis to the extreme perimeter. Oasis 64-layer dielectric coatings applied to the roof prisms maximize light reflection efficiency, preserving authentic color neutrality on backlit subjects. S-H broadband multi-coatings minimize internal lens flare, allowing observers to resolve subtle feather textures and color gradations in shaded forest canopies.

Submersible Magnesium Chassis & Extended 22mm Eye Relief

The compact dual-hinge single-axis body provides structural rigidity while keeping total mass to 696g, creating a well-balanced optic that reduces forearm fatigue during hours of continuous field observation. Textured rubber armoring cushions against accidental knocks and offers a secure hold in cold, wet conditions. The oversized center focus wheel features a wide rubber grip and smooth 500-degree rotation travel, allowing micro-fine focal adjustments from 8.2 feet out to optical infinity with or without gloves.

• Wide center focus wheel with 500-degree rotation travel and integrated central diopter adjuster
• Submersible nitrogen-purged alloy frame rated waterproof to a depth of 5m (16 feet)
