Leica 8×32 Ultravid HD-Plus Special Edition Binoculars (Brown Calf Leather Armoring)

Description

Finished in hand-stitched brown calf leather, the Leica 8×32 Ultravid HD-Plus Special Edition Binoculars (Brown Calf Leather Armoring) delivers a 404-foot field of view at 1000 yards (7.7-degree actual). The 4mm exit pupil provides bright daylight clarity. However, the tighter 13.3mm eye relief forces spectacle wearers to position eyecups close to avoid edge blackout.

Schott HT glass elements feed phase-corrected roof prisms coated in the 42-layer HighLux-System (HLS) and AquaDura hydrophobic exterior films. The magnesium chassis features a titanium central hinge axle sheathed in calf leather, measuring 4.6 by 4.6 by 2.2 inches at 18.87 oz (535 g). Nitrogen purged and submersible to 16 feet (4.9 m), it incorporates a central focus dial working to 6.9 feet (2.1 m), an integrated diopter adjuster, and twist-up eyecups.

Key Features of Leica 8×32 Ultravid HD-Plus Special Edition Binoculars (Brown Calf Leather Armoring)

A collector-grade field binocular engineered for travelers, birders, and naturalists who demand German optical pedigree and bespoke styling. The titanium central axle ensures lifelong mechanical alignment, while Schott HT glass elements keep contrast sharp across shadowed woodland canopies.

• 8x magnification through 32mm objective lenses with a 4mm exit pupil
• Phase-corrected roof prisms treated with the 42-layer HighLux-System (HLS)
• Schott HT high-transmission optical glass elements minimizing color fringing
• Wide 404 ft field of view at 1000 yd (7.7-degree actual angle)
• 13.3mm eye relief with two-stage twist-up rubber eyecups
• Short 6.9-foot close focus distance suited for butterfly and floral observation
• Submersible waterproof magnesium chassis sheathed in genuine brown calf leather
• Titanium central hinge pin providing lifelong structural alignment (18.87 oz)

Schott HT Elements & HighLux Prism Layers

Schott HT glass elements effectively curb secondary spectrum chromatic fringing, keeping plumage bars sharp against bright sky backdrops. The 42-layer HighLux mirror coatings reflect over 99 percent of light across the visible spectrum, maintaining natural color saturation across roughly 88 percent of the frame before slight edge softening begins.

Titanium Hinge & Lubricant-Free Mechanics

The rigid magnesium housing uses a titanium central axle to eliminate bridge flex, preserving factory collimation through severe pack impacts. Leica fits an advanced lubricant-free focus mechanism that operates with smooth, predictable mechanical drag even in sub-zero alpine conditions.

• Lubricant-free central focus cylinder prevents binding in extreme cold environments
• AquaDura hydrophobic coating causes water droplets and dirt to slide off lens surfaces
• Twist-up eyecups feature positive mechanical stops to prevent setting collapse
