Vixen A70Lf AC 70/900 Mobile Porta Telescope

Description

Designed for grab-and-go backyard stargazing and terrestrial nature spotting, the Vixen A70Lf AC 70/900 Mobile Porta Telescope is a complete portable alt-azimuth refractor telescope package. Operating at a slow f/12.9 focal ratio with a 900mm focal length, this 70mm (2.76 in) clear aperture instrument delivers a 1.66 arcseconds theoretical resolving power and reaches magnitude 11.0, gathering light for high-magnification planetary viewing, lunar crater exploration, and daylight nature tracking.

The optical system features an air-spaced long-focus Fraunhofer doublet objective with crown and flint optical glass, treated with multi-coated anti-reflection layers and an unobstructed 0% central profile. Measuring 860mm in length with a 76mm outer tube diameter, the tube assembly supplies a 28mm visual image circle. Supported by a 1.25-inch single-speed rack-and-pinion focuser with an integrated T-2 camera thread, this 2.50 kg (5.51 lbs) optical tube attaches to an included Mobile Porta manual alt-azimuth mount featuring a multi-angle folding arm, dual slow-motion worm gears, and an aluminum tripod for a total system weight of approximately 4.9 kg.

Key Features of Vixen A70Lf AC 70/900 Mobile Porta Telescope

Built for mobile observers seeking rapid deployment without complex polar alignment, this 70mm refractor pairs an f/12.9 optical tube with a flexible folding alt-azimuth mount. Two NPL Plössl eyepieces, an erect-image diagonal prism, and slow-motion control knobs deliver an out-of-the-box system for celestial and terrestrial viewing.

• 70mm (2.76 in) clear aperture with 900mm focal length and high-contrast f/12.9 focal ratio
• Air-spaced Fraunhofer achromatic doublet objective utilizing crown and flint optical glass
• Multi-coated anti-reflection optical layers with an unobstructed 0% central profile
• 1.25-inch rack-and-pinion focuser with integrated external T-2 thread for camera adapters
• Mobile Porta manual alt-azimuth mount with multi-angle folding arm and aluminum tripod
• Dual slow-motion worm gears providing continuous 360-degree tracking in altitude and azimuth
• Optical 6×24 finderscope and 90-degree erect-image diagonal prism for upright orientation
• Included NPL 20mm and NPL 6.3mm eyepieces providing versatile visual magnifications

Slow f/12.9 Fraunhofer Doublet Optical Geometry

Operating at an f/12.9 focal ratio, the 70mm Fraunhofer doublet objective naturally suppresses chromatic aberration, delivering high image contrast on lunar rilles, Jupiter’s moons, and Saturn’s ring system. The unobstructed optical train preserves light throughput, supporting practical visual magnifications from 10.0x up to 140x.

Mobile Porta Folding Mount & Dual Worm Gear Controls

Navigating the night sky or distant landscapes is managed through the Mobile Porta alt-azimuth mount, featuring full-circle worm gears that eliminate axis locking clamps. Observers can move the telescope by hand and engage the flexible slow-motion knobs for fine adjustments, while the folding arm geometry allows the mount to collapse flat for transport.

• Mobile Porta alt-azimuth mount with multi-angle folding arm for compact travel storage
• Continuous 360-degree slow-motion worm gear drives on both altitude and azimuth axes
• Friction-control slip mechanism allowing manual point-and-track operation without locking clutches
