Description
Maintaining focal stability during long nocturnal imaging runs, the TS Optics Photon N 200/1000 Carbon OTA is an ultra-light carbon fiber newtonian reflector optical tube assembly engineered for faint galaxy imaging and visual deep-sky exploration. Operating at an f/5.0 focal ratio with a 1000mm focal length, this 200mm (7.87 in) clear aperture telescope delivers a 0.58 arcseconds diffraction-limited resolving power and reaches magnitude 14.2, collecting substantial photons for high-resolution deep-sky astrophotography.
The optical system features a parabolic primary mirror fabricated from low-expansion fused quartz glass, treated with enhanced dielectric aluminum coatings yielding 94% reflectivity and an SiO2 protective overcoat, with a 31.5% central obstruction by diameter (9.9% by area) from its 63mm secondary mirror. Built inside a German carbon fiber composite tube measuring 900mm in length with a 230mm outer diameter, the tube assembly supplies 65mm of back focus above the 2-inch visual back. Supported by a 2-inch Monorail dual-speed linear bearing focuser, this 7.10 kg (15.65 lbs) optical tube illuminates a 44mm full-frame image circle when paired with optional TS-GPU coma correctors.
Key Features of TS Optics Photon N 200/1000 Carbon OTA
Designed for thermal-stable deep-sky imaging and high-resolution planetary viewing, this 8-inch Newtonian pairs a fused quartz primary mirror with an ultra-light carbon fiber chassis. Its 2-inch Monorail linear bearing focuser, rear 12V mirror cooling fan, and included 35mm extension tube provide an adaptable setup on medium-payload mounts.

- Fused quartz primary mirror substrate paired with a German carbon fiber composite tube
- Enhanced dielectric aluminum coatings with 94% reflectivity and protective SiO2 overcoat
- Moderate central obstruction of 31.5% by diameter (9.9% by area) for balanced contrast
- 2-inch Monorail dual-speed linear bearing focuser 1:10 with 1.25-inch adapter
- Generous 65mm back focus above the 2-inch visual back for cameras and coma correctors
- Corrected 44mm full-frame image circle when paired with optional TS-GPU coma corrector

Thermal-Stable Carbon Fiber Tube & Fused Quartz Substrate
The combination of a fused quartz primary mirror and a rigid carbon fiber tube minimizes focal plane drift caused by nocturnal ambient temperature drops. The 200mm parabolic optical surface focuses light without chromatic aberration, supporting high-contrast visual and photographic magnifications from 28.6x up to 400x.
Vibration-Damped Monorail Control & 12V Fan Assembly
Holding imaging cameras and visual accessories securely is delivered through a 2-inch Monorail linear bearing focuser with 1:10 fine tuning. An integrated 12V rear fan draws ambient air across the mirror cell to purge boundary layer thermals, while the 7.10 kg carbon fiber optical tube assembly mounts securely via CNC rings onto standard mount saddles.
- 2-inch Monorail dual-speed linear bearing focuser with 1:10 micro-reduction to prevent drawtube flexure
- Integrated 12V primary mirror cooling fan for rapid thermal equilibrium and boundary layer removal
- Ultra-light carbon fiber tube construction reducing overall mount payload weight to just 7.10 kg
