Taurus T500 Professional BDS 504/2150 Dobsonian Telescope

Description

Experience true 20-inch research-grade visual astronomy and resolve faint extragalactic structures with the Taurus T500 Professional BDS 504/2150 Dobsonian Telescope flagship modular truss system. Handcrafted in Poland by Taurus Telescopes, this f/4.27 telescope features a 504mm (19.84 in) aperture and a 2150mm focal length, delivering 0.23 arcseconds Dawes resolving power and reaching magnitude 16.2.

The Taurus T500 Professional BDS 504/2150 Dobsonian Telescope features a diffraction-limited Supremax 33 borosilicate primary mirror (Strehl >= 0.95) with 96% reflective enhanced aluminum coatings. Its modular carbon truss incorporates an upgraded 2-inch Baader Diamond Steeltrack (BDS) dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser with 1:10 micro-reduction. Resting on an ultra-light CNC-machined Baltic birch and aircraft aluminum base, the 31.25 kg (68.89 lbs) OTA ensures zero drawtube flexure under heavy 2-inch oculars.

Key Features of Taurus T500 Professional BDS 504/2150 Dobsonian Telescope

Built for heavy-eyepiece visual deep-sky astronomy, ultra-high-power planetary observation, and mobile research-grade viewing, this 20-inch Taurus T500 BDS Dobsonian pairs 1/10 PV Supremax 33 optics with a zero-flexure Baader Diamond Steeltrack focuser. Its modular carbon chassis and large altitude bearings ensure smooth, vibration-free tracking.

Supremax 33 Optics & Baader Diamond Steeltrack Drive

The hand-figured 504mm Supremax 33 parabolic primary mirror achieves a Strehl ratio of 0.95 or higher, revealing faint gravitational lenses and delicate planetary features. Supported by the zero-flexure Baader Diamond Steeltrack focuser, this flagship Taurus Dobsonian supports magnifications from 72.0x up to 1008x.

Baader BDS Focuser & Ultra-Light Baltic Birch Base

Preventing drawtube flexure when using large 2-inch eyepieces requires heavy-duty mechanical engineering. The Baader Diamond Steeltrack focuser uses diamond-coated drive mechanics for non-slip, millimeter-precise focusing. Combined with large-diameter altitude bearings on a Baltic birch rocker box, it maintains balanced, buttery-smooth manual nudging across the celestial sphere.

• 2-inch Baader Diamond Steeltrack dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser with 1:10 micro-drive
• Large-diameter side altitude bearings with PTFE pads for fluid, drift-free tracking
• Ultra-lightweight CNC-machined Baltic birch plywood and aircraft aluminum mount base
