Description
Switching between two mount modes, the Bresser MC 127/1900 MCX Messier EQ/AZ GoTo uses a motorized dual-fork design entirely different from the EXOS-2 GoTo sharing this tube’s optics, backed by a database of over 100,000 objects — the most capable GoTo option for this 127mm Maksutov.
Why choose dual-fork over EXOS-2 GoTo? The MCX mount’s convertible design lets you start in simple alt-azimuth mode and switch to a tilted equatorial layout once you’re ready for tracked sessions, without needing to learn German equatorial polar alignment from day one — a gentler ramp for a first GoTo Maksutov. The integrated flip-mirror system also switches between 90-degree and straight-through views instantly, a feature the EXOS-2 GoTo bundle doesn’t include.
Key Features of Bresser MC 127/1900 MCX Messier EQ/AZ GoTo
A heavy-duty dual-fork mount with an integrated polar wedge switches between alt-azimuth and equatorial configurations on demand, giving a new GoTo buyer room to grow into tracked observing.
- Convertible AZ/EQ design starts simple and adds tracked equatorial mode when ready
- Gotostar hand controller’s database covers over 100,000 objects
- Integrated flip-mirror system switches between 90-degree and straight-through views instantly
- Heavy-duty steel tripod supports the dual-fork mount’s added stability
- Accessory tray keeps eyepieces and the hand controller within reach
- Runs on 8x AA batteries or an optional external AC-DC adapter
- Convertible design suits a buyer unsure yet which mount style they prefer long-term
How the MCX GoTo Compares
Against the EXOS-2 GoTo sharing this same tube, the MCX mount trades a single equatorial-only design for genuine flexibility — alt-azimuth for casual use, equatorial for tracked sessions, plus a larger object database and an instant flip-mirror most German equatorial GoTo mounts don’t include.
Applications & Use Cases
Built for automated motorized tracking in either alt-azimuth or tilted equatorial layouts, this telescope resolves sharp planetary detail free of color aberration across a 5-inch aperture.
- Buyers who want GoTo flexibility without committing to equatorial-only tracking
- Observers who want the largest object database available on this tube
- Anyone new to GoTo who wants to grow into equatorial tracking gradually
Bresser Warranty & Support
The MCX-127 EQ/AZ GoTo carries a 2-Year Factory Warranty covering manufacturing defects, handled directly through Bresser’s support channel.
