Steiner 15×80 M1580 Military Binoculars

Description

Operating with 80mm objective lenses, a 5.3mm exit pupil, and a 213-foot field of view at 1000 yards, the Steiner 15×80 M1580 Military Binoculars deliver high optical brightness and resolving power for perimeter security, maritime interception, and tactical artillery observation. Combining 15x magnification with large-aperture 80mm light collectors, this Porro prism instrument produces an actual angle of view of 4.1 degrees and an accommodating optical train that maintains sharp subject resolution across deep-twilight horizons, open desert expanses, and coastal sea corridors.

The optical system features high-refraction BaK-4 Porro prisms mounted in a shock-dampening floating silicone suspension, paired with Steiner fully multi-coated optical elements that optimize light transmission and color contrast under adverse atmospheric conditions. Measuring 29.5 by 22.6 by 9.7cm (11.6 x 8.9 x 3.8 inches) and weighing 1930.6g (68.1 oz), the chassis is built from impact-resistant Makrolon polycarbonate and aluminum alloy, wrapped in non-slip NBR Long Life rubber armoring. The housing is pressurized with dry nitrogen gas via two-way valves and O-ring sealed for submersible waterproof integrity down to a depth of 5m (16 feet). Adjustments utilize Steiner Sports-Auto Focus individual eyepiece focusing with a 197-foot (60m) close focus distance, a wide -5 to +5 diopter compensation range on each ocular, cylindrical fold-down rubber eyecups, an interpupillary distance span from 56mm to 72mm, and a built-in central tripod adapter interface.

Key Features of Steiner 15×80 M1580 Military Binoculars

Built to military standards for long-range observation posts and shipboard watchkeeping, this 15×80 Porro prism binocular pairs large 80mm apertures with a bright 5.3mm exit pupil. The Sports-Auto Focus mechanism provides instantaneous focal depth from 60 meters out to infinity once calibrated to the operator eyes. Its nitrogen-pressurized Makrolon housing, floating prism suspension, and NBR rubber armoring ensure survivability in high-impact field environments.

High-Transmission BaK-4 Prisms & Military Optical Coatings

The 80mm front objective elements collect immense photon volume, generating a 5.3mm exit pupil that floods dark-adapted human eyes with light during twilight hours and overcast storms. Precision BaK-4 Porro prisms provide high optical throughput without internal phase degradation, preserving sharp subject contours across distant terrain. Steiner broadband multi-coatings reduce surface reflections, cutting through marine haze and desert mirage to resolve distant vessel superstructures and camouflaged personnel.

NBR Rubber Armoring & Individual Eyepiece Diopter Controls

The rigid Makrolon polycarbonate body resists physical deformation under extreme field stresses, utilizing a silicone-cushioned prism mount that absorbs severe shocks and impacts up to 11 Gs. Heavy-duty NBR Long Life rubber armoring protects against saltwater corrosion, fuels, and abrasive sand. The Sports-Auto Focus individual eyepiece dials rotate smoothly across a -5 to +5 diopter range, allowing users to achieve customized sharpness that remains locked in focus across varying distances without continuous refocusing.

• Sports-Auto Focus individual eyepiece mechanisms providing set-and-forget focal sharpness to infinity
• Nitrogen-pressurized Makrolon frame with shock-absorbing floating prism mounts rated waterproof to 5m
• Integrated central tripod mounting bracket providing balanced stability on heavy-duty tripods
