Nikon 18×70 Astroluxe Binoculars

Description

Resolve distant cometary tails and dense galactic star clusters through the Nikon 18×70 Astroluxe Binoculars large-aperture Porro prism astronomical observation system. Combining high-power 18x magnification with light-gathering 70mm objective lenses, this Japanese-manufactured optic delivers a 210.84-foot linear field of view at 1000 yards (70m at 1000m), an actual angle of view of 4.0 degrees, a wide 64.3-degree apparent field of view, a 3.9mm exit pupil, and 15.4mm of eye relief for resolving subtle deep-sky nebulae, open star clusters, and extreme-range maritime horizons.

The optical configuration features high-density BaK-4 Porro prisms paired with fully multi-coated optical elements that reduce internal scattering and optimize light throughput across the visible spectrum. Built inside a rigid cast aluminum alloy housing finished in a classic textured black pebble armoring, the binocular measures 29.2 by 23.4cm (11.5 x 9.2 inches) and weighs 2.05 kg (4.52 lbs). The internal barrels are dry nitrogen gas filled and O-ring sealed, delivering water resistance and complete internal fogproof protection against damp night air and coastal spray. Optical adjustments utilize individual eyepiece helical focusing mechanisms with an 11.5-foot (3.5m) minimum close focus distance, an interpupillary span from 56mm to 72mm, fold-down rubber eyeguards, and an integrated central hinge interface accepting standard 1/4-20 tripod adapters.

Key Features of Nikon 18×70 Astroluxe Binoculars

Designed specifically for astronomical stargazing and long-range coastal scouting, this 18×70 Porro prism binocular unites high resolving power with 70mm light collection. Its wide 64.3-degree apparent field of view provides broad stereoscopic panoramas of star lanes and distant ridgelines. The nitrogen-filled cast aluminum body and individual helical focusers ensure rigid collimation and fogproof durability in humid night observation fields.

• 18x magnification power paired with 70mm objective apertures for resolving faint astronomical objects
• Porro prism optical architecture utilizing high-density BaK-4 glass for three-dimensional depth
• Broadband fully multi-coated optical surfaces maximizing photon transmission across dark skies
• Linear field of view of 210.84 feet at 1000 yards (70m at 1000m) with 4.0-degree actual angle of view
• Comfortable 15.4mm eye relief with soft fold-down rubber eyecups for eyeglass wearers
• Independent helical eyepiece focusing delivering individual focal precision for each eye

70mm Objective Lenses & BaK-4 Porro Prism Optics

The 70mm front objective elements collect immense photon volume compared to standard hand-held optics, generating a 3.9mm exit pupil that illuminates subtle contrast variations in the Orion Nebula, Andromeda Galaxy, and lunar crater formations. High-index BaK-4 Porro prisms provide high optical throughput without phase-shift degradation, ensuring stars appear as sharp pinpoints across the wide visual field. Multi-layer anti-reflective coatings suppress ghost reflections and optical flare when observing bright targets against dark celestial backgrounds.

Cast Aluminum Housing & Independent Helical Focus

The cast aluminum alloy frame provides structural rigidity to maintain factory optical collimation under field transit and temperature fluctuations. The textured black exterior provides a firm grip while handling the instrument during cold night observations. Individual helical eyepiece focusers rotate with calibrated tactile resistance, allowing observers to set precise focal alignment for each eye that remains locked in place without slipping during extended tripod-mounted viewing sessions.

• Individual helical eyepiece focus barrels providing precise, drift-free focal calibration
• Airtight nitrogen-purged aluminum housing engineered to withstand damp maritime air and dew
• Balanced Porro prism architecture optimized for vibration-free mounting on heavy-duty tripods
