KITE OPTICS 12×42 NAVATAQ HORIZON ONE Image Stabilized Binoculars (Black)

Description

Isolate distant pelagic seabirds and scan choppy ocean horizons using the KITE OPTICS 12×42 NAVATAQ HORIZON ONE Image Stabilized Binoculars (Black) active roof prism observation system. Combining a balanced 12x magnification with 42mm objective apertures, this field instrument delivers a 202-foot linear field of view at 1000 yards (67.1m at 1000m), an actual angle of view of 3.85 degrees, an accommodating 3.5mm exit pupil, and 17mm of eye relief for comfortable, vibration-free tracking during extended pelagic surveys and coastal monitoring.

The optical system features high-refraction roof prisms treated with phase-correction coatings and broadband anti-reflective multi-coatings, paired with an active electronic stabilization unit providing +/- 2 degrees of motion cancellation. Built inside a lightweight composite chassis encased in black textured protective armoring, the housing measures 190 by 140 by 60mm (7.5 x 5.5 x 2.4 inches) and weighs 720g (25.4 oz). The internal optical assembly is dry nitrogen gas purged and O-ring sealed to IPX7 waterproof standards, withstanding rain, heavy sea spray, and submersion down to 1m depth. Mechanical and electronic operations feature a responsive central focus wheel, an adjustable right-eye diopter ring, twist-up rubber eyecups, and an Angle Power Control (APC) power management system running on two AA batteries for up to 60 hours, supported by an internal spare battery compartment providing a total operating capacity of up to 120 hours.

Key Features of KITE OPTICS 12×42 NAVATAQ HORIZON ONE Image Stabilized Binoculars (Black)

Designed for pelagic birders, marine navigators, and tactical observers, this 12×42 stabilized binocular combines balanced resolving power with electronic motion correction. Its +/- 2 degree stabilization angle eliminates image shake on vibrating boat decks and windblown coastal lookouts. The IPX7 waterproof body and automated APC power-saving sensor ensure reliable long-term battery performance during extended outdoor field assignments.

• 12x magnification power paired with 42mm objective lenses delivering a balanced 3.5mm exit pupil
• Active electronic image stabilization system providing +/- 2 degrees of real-time motion correction
• Phase-corrected roof prism architecture treated with broadband anti-reflective multi-coatings
• Linear field of view of 202 feet at 1000 yards (67.1m at 1000m) with 3.85-degree actual angle of view
• Generous 17mm eye relief with multi-position twist-up rubber eyecups suitable for eyeglasses
• Angle Power Control (APC) system placing stabilization into sleep mode when hanging vertically
• IPX7 waterproof and nitrogen-purged chassis engineered to survive immersion up to 1m depth
• Dual-bay battery architecture accommodating two active AA cells and two on-board spare batteries

Two-Degree Vibration Cancellation & 3.5mm Exit Pupil Optics

The electronic stabilization module counteracts hand jitter and vessel engine vibration up to +/- 2 degrees, presenting an unmoving image frame without visual latency or image-swimming artifacts. Phase-corrected roof prisms eliminate internal phase shift, while broadband multi-coatings optimize light transmission through the 42mm objective lenses. The 3.5mm exit pupil provides comfortable image brightness across overcast skies and shaded coastal cliffs, allowing observers to distinguish subtle plumage variations on fast-flying oceanic birds.

IPX7 Waterproof Enclosure & 120-Hour Battery Architecture

The IPX7-certified chassis protects internal electronics and optical glass against heavy marine spray, driving rain, and accidental water immersion. The APC sleep mode sensor detects when the instrument hangs vertically from the neck, cutting power automatically and reactivating instant stabilization the moment the binocular is lifted to the eyes. The dual battery compartment design holds two active AA batteries delivering approximately 60 hours of run time, with a secondary storage bay holding two spare cells to extend field operation to 120 hours without external charging gear.

• Internal gyro-stabilization mechanism providing +/- 2 degrees of real-time image vibration control
• IPX7 waterproof nitrogen-purged housing wrapped in non-slip black protective composite armoring
• Angle Power Control auto-sleep technology extending battery life across extended observation shifts
