Fujinon 16×70 FMTR-SX Polaris Binoculars 2022

Description

Positioned on commercial vessel bridges and dark-sky astronomy fields, the Fujinon 16×70 FMTR-SX Polaris Binoculars 2022 deliver high-magnification optical resolution and massive light gathering for naval watchkeeping, maritime border security, and celestial observation. Pairing 16x magnification with colossal 70mm objective apertures, this Porro prism instrument provides a 210-foot linear field of view at 1000 yards (70m at 1000m), an actual angle of view of 4.0 degrees (apparent angle of 64 degrees), a 4.4mm exit pupil, and 15.5mm of eye relief for spotting distant shipping traffic, navigational hazards, and deep-sky star clusters.

The optical configuration incorporates BaK-4 Porro prisms integrated with Fujinon specialized field flattener lenses and proprietary EBC (Electron Beam Coating) multi-layer anti-reflective depositions achieving 95% total light transmission. Built inside a rugged cast aluminum alloy chassis encased in thick non-slip black ribbed rubber armoring, the housing measures 27 by 23.8cm (10.6 x 9.4 inches) and weighs 1.9 kg (4.2 lbs). Built to stringent US military specifications for shock and water resistance, the internal barrels are dry nitrogen gas filled and O-ring sealed for complete waterproof and fogproof protection across temperature extremes from -20C to +50C. Field adjustments utilize individual eyepiece helical focusing collars with integrated diopter compensation, fold-down rubber eyecups, an interpupillary distance span from 56mm to 74mm, and a standard 1/4-20 threaded tripod adapter socket located on the central hinge.

Key Features of Fujinon 16×70 FMTR-SX Polaris Binoculars 2022

Engineered for professional maritime navigation and astronomical observation, this 16×70 Porro prism binocular combines 95% light transmission with edge-to-edge optical flatness. Its field flattener lenses eliminate astigmatism and distortion across an apparent 64-degree field of view. The nitrogen-filled military-spec chassis, heavy rubber armoring, and individual helical focusers ensure rigid optical collimation in severe marine squalls and cold night observing conditions.

• 16x magnification power paired with 70mm objective lenses for extreme-range subject resolution
• Porro prism optical architecture incorporating BaK-4 glass blocks for enhanced depth perception
• Integrated field flattener lenses delivering edge-to-edge sharpness with zero astigmatism
• Proprietary EBC multi-layer optical coatings achieving an industry-leading 95-percent light transmission
• Linear field of view of 210 feet at 1000 yards (70m at 1000m) with 4.0-degree actual angle of view
• Comfortable 15.5mm eye relief with soft fold-down rubber eyecups accommodating eyeglasses
• Built to US military specifications for shock and impact resistance with an all-metal alloy chassis
• Nitrogen gas filled and O-ring sealed waterproof housing operating from -20C to +50C

Field Flattener Lenses & Proprietary EBC Optical Coatings

The 70mm front objective elements utilize Fujifilm rare-earth glass formulations treated with proprietary zirconium oxide EBC coatings to transmit 95% of available light. Integrated field flattener lens elements correct field curvature and off-axis aberrations, ensuring stellar pinpoints and distant vessel silhouettes remain sharp across the entire field of view. The 4.4mm exit pupil works in synergy with the Porro prism geometry to provide high optical contrast, cutting through ocean haze, coastal fog, and dark sky backgrounds.

Military-Specification Chassis & Independent Helical Focusing

The cast aluminum alloy body meets US military shock and impact standards, protecting internal prism alignment from rough shipboard handling and engine vibrations. Thick ribbed rubber armoring cushions against physical impacts while providing a secure grip with wet hands or heavy marine gloves. Individual helical eyepiece focusers rotate with precise tactile resistance, allowing observers to set individual eye corrections that remain locked from intermediate distances out to optical infinity, while the central tripod mount permits rock-solid stability during extended watchkeeping.

• Individual helical eyepiece focus barrels providing precise, drift-free optical calibration
• Submersible nitrogen-purged aluminum alloy body engineered for operation from -20C to +50C
• Central hinge tripod adapter interface enabling vibration-free high-magnification observation
