Opticron MM4 77 GA ED 18-54x77mm Travelscope (Straight Viewing)

Description

Cut backpack carry bulk in half using Opticron MM4 Travelscope Scope technology, combining a 77mm extra-low dispersion objective with a straight modular chassis and dual-focus drive. Engineered for mobile field birders and backcountry hunters, it delivers big-objective resolution from a compact housing. At 44.4 ounces, the optic provides great balance, though straight viewing requires deliberate tripod height matching for seated glassing.

A durable composite chassis protected by textured rubber armor encloses the internal roof prism pathways and dual-focus mechanisms. The 77mm objective lens features extra-low dispersion ED glass elements with multicoated optical layers that maximize light transmission in dim conditions. Nitrogen purging provides IPX7 submersible waterproofing down to 3 feet. Spanning 12.6 inches in length, this Opticron straight spotting scope delivers stable offhand glassing during windy field shoots.

Key Features of Opticron MM4

Select to buy Opticron MM4 precision rifle optics to combine world-class glass resolution with immediate firing solutions. The optic equips western hunters with dependable ballistic range numbers on distant targets.

• 77mm ED objective lens captures rich ambient light while minimizing pack carry weight
• Straight viewing configuration allows rapid target acquisition from prone shooting mats
• Dual focus mechanism provides rapid coarse adjustment alongside surgical fine-focus control
• High-transmission multicoated optical paths maximize contrast under dim timber canopies
• MM4 Travelscope spotting scope platform accepts interchangeable HDF T and SDLv3 zoom eyepieces
• Rubber-armored lightweight chassis ensures structural durability without pack weight burdens
• Submersible waterproof design protects internal optical paths during heavy backcountry storms

Optical Resolution Physical Performance Metrics

The extra-low dispersion glass lenses deliver high color fidelity without severe chromatic aberration along high-contrast target borders. Light transmission reaches 88 percent, providing bright contrast during dim sunset glassing sessions. Operating across 14°F to 122°F, the mechanical focus cells maintain fluid resistance without backlash. Internal shock proofing shields sensitive prism cages against jarring vehicle transport.

Chassis Layout Tripod Adaptation Specifications

The machined mounting foot fits Arca-Swiss quick-release tripod clamps straight without extra adapter hardware. Dual threaded 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 sockets provide secure attachment to heavy match tripods. The straight barrel layout allows intuitive target tracking from shooting mats behind prone marksmen. The rotating mounting collar locks firmly with a knurled thumbscrew for lateral canting.

Field Handling Usability Filter Boundaries

Dual focus knobs allow fast coarse sweeps with light index-finger pressure, followed by fine focus on distant mirage layers. The bayonet eyepiece collar locks modular oculars without wobble. This portable 77mm straight spotting scope is not engineered for stationary late-dusk benchrest matches where massive 95mm or 99mm scopes dominate light gathering.

• Clear debris and dust from optical glass elements with lens cleaner after each outing
• Inspect the eyepiece bayonet locking pin and O-ring seal for dirt every 100 field hours
• Store the scope module within its padded protective case during field transit
