GPO USA 8×32 Passion ED Binocular (Deep Green)

Description

Weighing under 18 ounces, the compact GPO USA 8×32 Passion ED Binocular (Deep Green) pairs an 8x magnification with a broad 409.5-foot field of view at 1000 yards (7.8-degree actual). The 4mm exit pupil and 16mm eye relief give fast sight acquisition, though viewing comfort dims earlier at twilight compared to larger 42mm objectives.

Extra-low dispersion objective elements mate with phase-corrected Schmidt-Pechan BaK-4 roof prisms treated with GPObright proprietary multi-coatings. Built on a magnesium alloy micro-bridge chassis finished in deep green rubber armoring, it measures 4.9 by 4.6 by 1.7 inches and weighs 17.6 oz (500 g). O-ring sealed and nitrogen purged against internal fogging, the optic incorporates a central focus dial tracking down to 6.6 feet (2.0 m), twist-up click-stop eyecups, and a 56mm to 73mm interpupillary span.

Key Features of GPO USA 8×32 Passion ED Binocular (Deep Green)

An agile field optic designed for travelers and woodland birders who demand low pack weight without sacrificing edge clarity. The solid micro-bridge architecture leaves generous room for a firm wrap-around grip in damp timber.

• 8x magnification through 32mm objective lenses yielding a 4mm exit pupil
• Phase-corrected Schmidt-Pechan BaK-4 roof prisms with GPObright multi-coatings
• Extra-low dispersion (ED) optical elements suppressing color fringing
• 409.5 ft field of view at 1000 yd (7.8-degree actual angle)
• 16mm eye relief with multi-stop twist-up composite eyecups
• 6.6-foot close focus distance suited for close-range botanical viewing
• Nitrogen gas purged magnesium alloy chassis with deep green rubber armor
• Compact 17.6 oz weight with front tripod adapter compatibility

GPObright Multi-Coatings & Color Saturation

The GPObright optical coating matrix delivers high light transmission across the visible spectrum with a slight warm color saturation that aids subject separation in flat gray light. The ED glass keeps purple fringing minimal on backlit twigs, though marginal sharpness rolls off softly in the outer 12 percent of the 7.8-degree field.

Magnesium Micro-Bridge & Mechanical Control

The magnesium alloy frame keeps the chassis rigid against twisting forces while shaving weight for steep alpine ascents. The central focus wheel operates with consistent, grease-damped drag without backlash, and the twist-up eyecups maintain firm detents that resist collapsing during quick shoulder checks.

• Grease-damped central focus dial turns with smooth, predictable mechanical resistance
• Nitrogen-filled seals prevent internal lens condensation during rapid thermal drops
• Three-position twist-up eyecups allow precise eye-to-lens spacing for all observers
